Configuration

I recently hit the "automatic settings" option button in the TCP/IP configuration utlity on windows XP. Now no matter what I do I cannot get to load a webpage even though the CPU sees the net. I cannot find anything on the network that even remotely helps. I think it might be a DNS problem because I have even loaded the correct IP and router addresses. Thanks.

I’m taking a network and configurations class, and the final project is to build a school in which I design the computer network. I have to show a budget for all materials etc. I just dont know where to start. I’m not sure what I need to build a net work. My planned school will be pretty small, maybe 10-12 classrooms, and of course offices and stuff. We dont have to specify the types of computers, the focus is more on the network setup, wiring, wireless, access points etc. Anybody got a clue where I should start? Maybe a good tutorial site? Thanks!
EDITED DETAILS: I’m taking a network and configurations class,(THE CLASS HAS ONLY MET ONE TIME, IT IS JUST BEGINNING. I AM A NEW STUDENT TO AN ALREADY FORMED COHORT. FOR MOST OF THE STUDENTS, THIS IS THEIR LAST CLASS. THIS IS ONLY MY 2ND.) I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A "FREEBIE" OR FOR ANYONE TO DO MY WORK FOR ME. I AM JUST LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS, TUTORIALS, ETC. What is network configuration?!?!?

by admin on August 19, 2009

As previously said, what is network configuration?!?!

have tried restarting the computer, unplugging router, repairing connection.

The internet works fine while plugged into a wired connection.

Now, instead of displaying my network name, it displays "unidentified network (with my network name here)".

My laptop is an inspiron 1525 with vista

Status:
IPv4 connectivity: local
IP v6 Connectivity: limited
Media State: enabled
SSID: "My network’s name"
Duration: 1:40:08
Speed: 54 mbps

I am less than a foot away from the router and the wireless doesn’t work anywhere.

This started when I plugged my xbox 360 into my laptop via an ethernet cord. This may have nothing to do with this at all though.

Another wireless computer is working wirelessly through this router.

Can anyone help me?

Hi all,
I need to know how to setup a simple network using manual IPs, not Automatic IPs given by my Linksys Wrt45g router setup as "Automatic Configuration DHCP" under Internet Connection type.
My operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit

My ISP is Optimum Online and I believe I have Static IP.
I CAN either use Automatic DHCP or Static IP in my Wireless Router.
In the netwrk setup section, my local ip add is 192.168.1.1 // subnet: 255.255.255.0

This is the tricky part for me,
I enabled DHCP Server
Starting IP Address is "192.168.1.5"
Max numbers of DHCP users is "2" (I want it this way only).
Next Step, I went to my wireless network card and in the TCP/IPv4 Settings, I manually changed my IP to 192.168.1.5 // subnet 255.255.255.0 // def gateway 192.168.1.1 – In my other laptop I did the same exept 192.168.1.6. They’re networkly connected but I cant connect to the INTERNET! I did this using the Static IP but no go! It works when IPv4 is set to automatic obtain

Which is the best network configuration, operating system, internet connection and if I need a server? Which components will I need for the network?
